We “budding” computer engineers have to face many challenges once we are out of this conveyer belt called B.tech . The difference between the real world and ,well what’s thought in our classes is huge. An interesting analogy here is that of a person swimming in a temperature controlled shallow swimming pool compared to that of an ocean. To this end, we could acclimatize ourselves to the waves by taking on them in small but steady capsules of knowledge.

Let’s share knowledge, or point to it, as we undertake this journey together! :)

Rectangles

Every morning, I spend an hour on the computer, writing a blog post and checking e-mail.

Then I go to work for eight hours. Generally, I spend six of those hours at my desk, on the computer.

In the evening, I work on the AI for an hour and a half, and spend at least another half hour writing my journal and doing other little things.

If Iโ€™m lucky, I get an hour in there somewhere to read a book, or sometimes watch a little TV.

Thatโ€™s 10 hours a day. I spend over half my waking life staring at rectangles.

The thing is, I donโ€™t regret it. Work pays the bills. The AI is the project Iโ€™m most excited about. I love reading; Iโ€™d never give it up. And writing the blog is a way to channel and structure the mess of thoughts bouncing around my head.

Using the standard Template library(STL)

With data structures right around the corner, most of you might think, one has to “code” those data structures in real life to use them..well there is a better solution… USE STL!. It has become as easy and robust as primitive data types, they have inbuilt functions , and it’s the way to do real world programming! It is used to build anywhere from a console application to a win 8 app to an IOS-apple application.Don’t get frightened/bored as you saw c++ in the tag. Its applications are evergreen and immortal! ๐Ÿ™‚

C++ without STL is like looking at an Iceberg above the water. Only once you dive in , you’ll know what it is.
